The question is: how do you make it happen? Though the options are endless, some of our best pieces of advice are as follows.
Give It a Theme
While you could certainly have a standard party if you wish, we advise you to go with a theme. Choosing a theme for your party will make it just a little more fun and might even spur on some attendee participation. There are all sorts of themes you could do, from a beach theme to a jungle theme to an arctic theme to a sports theme and more. Just choose one and give it all you’ve got.
Have Some Music Blasting
A backyard party without music is just awkward. And if your party is awkward, there’s no chance of it being epic. So, make sure to have some music blasting from the time the party starts until the time the party ends. You can make do with a few speakers and a playlist. But if you really want to take it to the next level, consider bringing in a DJ.
Have Some Activities Planned
There’s nothing wrong with a traditional graduation party in which people sit down at tables and talk to each other. But that’s not what you’re going for. You want something a little more fun. For this reason, you’re advised to have semi-structured activities planned. Maybe you could set up a volleyball court? Or maybe you could have cornhole boards waiting? Regardless of the types of things that you’re into, you should have something that keeps the party active. Sitting down and talking for 5 hours straight is decidedly non-epic.
Make Sure There’s Plenty of Seating
You don’t want your guests to sit for the entirety of the time that they’re at your party, no. However, that doesn’t mean you should eschew seating entirely. You need to make sure that you have enough seating for everybody. If you don’t own enough chairs yourself, you need to rent some of those plastic folding chairs for events. Just make sure that there are places to rest. Otherwise, people are going to leave sooner rather than later.
Provide Plenty of Food and Beverages
A party without food and beverages isn’t much of a party at all. As such, you had better make sure that you’ve got plenty of food and beverages to go around. Think soda, hot dogs, chips, cake, and other sorts of party foods. If you’re of age (for instance, if this party is for college graduation), get alcohol involved as well. Nothing gets a party going quite like liquid courage.
